“Healing is the process, often lifelong, of restoring and reawakening the capacities for safety, belonging, and dignity on the other side of trauma.” -Prentis Hemphill
You already have everything you need, but it can be difficult to draw on those internal resources and gain the confidence to trust yourself. The work we will do in therapy can help you get unstuck. My goal is to help empower you to take charge of your life and find your path to thriving, not just surviving. Finding the right fit therapist is an important part of the journey to healing. It is humbling and an honor to work with people on this journey. I find the process beautiful to support and I am energized by watching people become more empowered.
Specialties
Working with me
My approach to counseling is person-centered, collaborative and strength-based. Using a trauma-informed approach and working from a social justice lens, I provide non-judgmental, affirming counseling to support you on your journey towards thriving.
I am also a certified EMDR therapist (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is one of the most effective types of treatment for PTSD. I combine EMDR with parts work, like IFS therapy, the 4-Blink Flash technique and somatic techniques to treat complex trauma. Using this method, we can work together to heal from impactful life experiences. I also enjoy working with people to grow self-compassion and self-acceptance.
I work primarily with adults individually and in groups.
On a Personal Note
I identify as a white, cis-gendered woman, queer, fat, able-bodied, and a parent. I live my life driven by the values of authenticity, interconnectedness and joy. In my free time, I enjoy exploring new parks and beaches with my kiddo, going to brunch, going for a walk while listening to podcasts, and singing loudly.
Education and Training
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology and I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Western Washington University. I am certified in EMDR and continue to pursue training in various forms of therapeutic interventions.
